At least two migrants died and another ten needed medical attention this Friday after traveling hidden in a train carriage of cargo in the US state of Texas, local media reported.

The authorities of Uvalde (Texas) responded to the emergency call of one of the people who was traveling on the train, as reported by the KENS chain. Police closed a stretch of Highway 90 about 20 miles (32 kilometers) east of the city of Uvalde, in the Knippa area, where the train stopped. It is not clear if the wagon or container in which the migrants were traveling was sealed on the outside.

Uvalde Police Chief Daniel Rodríguez told KENS that the discovery was made around 1:30 p.m. local time (18:30 GMT). Several helicopters and ambulances responded to the emergency. At least four of the injured were airlifted to a hospital in San Antonio.

In June of last year, San Antonio authorities found tens of migrants dead who traveled crowded in a cargo truck. The total death toll was 53, while 13 people were injured.
