In a race against the clock and in difficult war conditions and in joint efforts of Foreign Ministry officials, ZAKA Ukraine Commander Rabbi Yosef Asman and his deputy Nachman Dickstein and Zhitomir emissary Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, friends and family of the deceased, the coffin of the Jew Roman Brodecki killed during an escape from Kiev on his way to Israel.
Nachman Dickstein, Deputy Commander of ZAKA Ukraine: “Immediately upon receiving the unfortunate report of the tragic incident, we worked together in full cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, members of ZAKA’s headquarters in Israel, Chabad emissary in Zhitomir, Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm, Commander of ZAKA Ukraine And a Chabad emissary, Rabbi Yosef Asman, before the Ukrainian authorities in order to obtain all the documents and release the body of the deceased from Ukraine via the border with Moldova to Romania, from where he will be flown for burial in Israel. We fought together in a joint mission for the honor of the deceased and for the family of the deceased in order to make it a little easier for them and to help them bring the deceased to Israel for burial. “
