The body of the third victim was taken out from under the rubble of a house in Noginsk

Rescuers removed from the rubble the body of the third victim of a gas explosion in a residential building in Noginsk near Moscow, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in the emergency services.

“They removed the body of the third victim, presumably a teenage girl,” the source said. Prior to this, it was reported that the bodies of two victims were removed from the rubble.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, the house in which the explosion occurred was a panel building and was built in 2003. As a result of the explosion, a wall collapsed on the 2nd, 3rd and 4th floors, on the 5th floor the interfloor overlap collapsed. In total, five apartments were damaged. 173 people were evacuated from the house. Investigators opened a criminal case under Art. 238 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (provision of services that do not meet safety requirements). In total, 17 residents were injured as a result of the explosion.

Earlier today, the vice-governor of the Moscow region, Yevgeny Khromushin, said that the main cause of the explosion is considered to be a domestic gas leak. “The investigating authorities will investigate: it is an accident, negligence, or, accordingly, a violation of the operation of gas equipment,” said Khromushin.
