The head coach of the national boxing team, Joel Arate, said that Javier Ibanez, Radoslav Rosenov and Rami Keuan will attack for medals at the Olympic Games in Paris starting in a week.

Ibanez in the category up to 57 kilograms, Rosenov in the 63.5-kilogram category and Keuan up to 71 kilograms are the Bulgarian representatives in the men’s category, and according to Arate, each of them is in good enough shape to win a medal.

“The results we have achieved in recent months are not accidental. They are the result of our work for the last five, six, seven years. In the last three years these three guys (Javier Ibanez, Radoslav Rosenov and Rami Kewan) have fifth places in the world championship. Ramy is also the champion of the European Games. In France we were in a camp with 72 other boxers who will participate in the Olympic Games. They did a lot good sparring against world and continental champions. So I expect the best results from each of them,” said the Cuban-born specialist.

“Javier Ibanez has the best chances. He is ranked number 2 in the scheme in his category and will rest in the first round, that is, he will have one less match. But I expect medals from all the boys because they are prepared a lot, very well. We managed to work to the maximum during the preparation, and let Bulgaria wait for good news from the boxing. The draw is on the 27th with the Rado Rosenov category matches in the categories of Javier and Ramy, but Javier misses the first round. His first match should be on July 31,” Arate also said.

He only regretted that Bulgaria did not have more competitions in Paris, as according to him the team is very strong.

“This is the best team that Bulgaria has had in the last ten years at least. The boys are smart, disciplined and I’m sorry that the other boys didn’t manage to get quotas either. Yordan Morehon and Petar Belberov had their chances at the hardest. We have to to thank our entire team, to Yasen Radev, to William Cholov. We went to the European Championship with seven people and won six medals. This shows that we are moving in the right direction and we will attack the medals in Paris one hundred percent,” concluded Joel Arate.
