CONNECTING ROD. “I want to be a policeman to put dad in jail, so he won’t touch mommy anymore”: from a child’s confession at school, the Biella Carabinieri started an investigation and ended up arresting the father.
The boy, who attends a provincial school, had told his teacher that he wanted to be a policeman when he grew up. He later explained the reason: “his father scolds his mother too much.”
The teacher, realizing the seriousness of the situation, informed the management of the school, which sent a detailed report to the Biella Prosecutor’s Office. The Carabinieri then verified the situation of the family unit.
Once they had the first confirmations, they approached the child’s mother, a 42-year-old woman, gaining her trust and leading her to tell a story of abuse, never reported, suffered for a long time by her partner, an alcoholic, even in front of their children. Listening to her carefully, the police perceived that there was something more, that the woman’s fear was deep, for something she did not dare to say.
In agreement with social services, who have prepared a protected home for women and childrenthey thus intervened in the family’s home, discovering the reason for that strong fear: checking the house, they found a pistol with magazine inserted and full of roundsplaced on top of the refrigerator, and, hidden in a closet, a rifle and some cartridges. Both weapons had the serial numbers erased.
The man was then arrested for receiving stolen goods and possession of clandestine weapons, as well as reported for mistreatment in the family and beatings, and taken to the prison of Biella at the disposal of the public prosecutor who is coordinating the investigations.
