Following the election of the now ex-mayor of the commune of Djougou, Malick Gomina to the National Assembly, then his resignation from this position, the municipal councilor, Yaya Idrissou is appointed to lead the destinies of the commune of Djougou , capital of the Donga department. Former militant of the ABT alliance and founding member of the Republican Bloc, Yaya Idrissou had the confidence of all the crowned heads, the wise men, the youth of his locality, as well as the charismatic leader of the Republican Bloc, Abdoulaye Bio Tchané, secretary national general of the party, to occupy the chair of the mayor of the city. Elected councilor in the district of Kolokondé, he has sat on the municipal council of Djougou since 2020.

The former head of the revolutionary school (MRS) and class movements in Djougou has never lost his sense and taste for politics. In fact, he never strayed from his political terrain, even when he was abroad. Yaya Idrissou is a real political animal who makes fidelity and loyalty a cardinal principle in politics. Currently 59 years old, this indefatigable and hard worker who does not back down from any difficulty, is today an agricultural farmer who spends most of his time in the village to develop his farm. With his advent at the head of the town hall of Djougou, it is a native of rural communities who is thus propelled to the controls of the largest crossroads city in North Benin.
The installation of the new mayor postponed
Previously scheduled for this Thursday, March 23, 2023, the installation of the mayor of Djougou, Yaya Idrissou was not effective. The session of his taking office, convened by the prefect, was postponed later. Designated by the majority party Bloc Républicain, Yaya Idrissou should be installed in his prerogatives to replace Malick Gomina, elected deputy.
