The breakdown of justice

Ecuador, a former island of peace, has become a theater of unusual violence with crimes, assaults, kidnappings, extortions, wars between international drug trafficking cartels before a justice system that has lost its function of balance and sustenance of democracy, to become biased, in many cases, in favor of crimes.

National dignity has been sullied by the countless fortunes of the drug business that have entered, like an uncontrollable fog, in justice, in politics and have contaminated members of institutions, once exemplary defenders of the country, such as the armed forces and police.

It is evident that the “meddling” in justice, warned and executed by the fugitive former president, was the seed of the legal insecurity that overwhelms us. There were countless cases in which the sentences were the submissive fruits of the Saturday expressions of the vengeful and quarrelsome ruler.

It is unprecedented that entire gangs of criminals, many of them foreigners, who arrived in the country benefiting from the absurd “universal citizenship,” who have been discovered and captured, after arduous police work, are released, immediately, by judges and prosecutors. causing people’s distrust and disbelief in justice, since on many occasions it is these subjects, who should have been imprisoned, who repeat the criminal actions.

We are forced witnesses of the conflict between the National Court, its administrative body the Judicial Council and the interference of the Council of Citizen Participation and Social Control in a struggle for appointment and disciplinary sanctions to judges to which are added the political interests of appointments of control authorities.

The broken Justice has transformed the country into a failed State. A patriotic and mature agreement of responsible people and a new government that acts decisively to reform the much-needed justice system is urgently needed.
