British Foreign Secretary David Lammy condemned the rocket attack on a settlement in the Israeli-controlled Golan Heights and said that Hezbollah must stop its attacks, DPA reported.

“The United Kingdom condemns the rocket attack in the Golan Heights, which tragically claimed the lives of at least 12 people,” Lammy wrote on the X social network.

“We are deeply concerned about the risk of further escalation and destabilization. We have clearly stated that Hezbollah must stop its attacks,” he added.

Israel accused the Lebanese group, which it denies being responsible, reports BTA.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that “all indications are that the missile was indeed fired by Hezbollah”.

The strike yesterday, which the Israeli military said killed 12 children and youths, raised fears that the conflict in the Middle East could escalate.

The Israeli military said it struck targets inside Lebanese territory overnight.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Hezbollah “will pay a high price for this attack, the likes of which it has never paid before.”

Israel and Hezbollah have been exchanging fire since October 8, a day after Hamas fighters attacked southern Israel, but cross-border strikes have escalated in recent weeks.

Israel and Hamas are currently considering a cease-fire proposal that would end the nearly 10-month war and free about 110 hostages still held in Gaza.
