The BSE Sensex rose 427 points to trade at 54,178..!!

MUMBAI: Sensex crossed 53,000 points and Nifty crossed 16,000 points as investors eagerly bought stocks. The BSE Sensex rose 427 points to close at 54,178. Out of the 30 companies in the Sensex index, 21 stocks rose and sold. The national stock market index Nifty rose 143 points to close at 16,133 points.
