On the Unification Day of the Equestrian Balkaniad in Istanbul, our women’s team unquestionably won the team victory in the tough competition of Romanian and Turkish riders.
On the second day of the show jumping trials, the team competitions are held at the balkaniad.
Despite tough competition from both Turkish and Romanian riders, our girls demonstrated not only brilliant riding but also exceptional composure.
The competition is held in two consecutive heats with a parkour height of 125 cm, adding up the errors from the first and second heats.
Sisters Elena and Irina Nikolovi, Maria Garkova and Draga Todorova started in our team.
The Women’s category is considered to be lighter and allows more inexperienced competitors to gain experience. The only relief, however, is only the height, which is not 130 cm, but 5 cm lower. Parkour itself is difficult, requires a lot of technical skills, excellent knowledge of the horse, and any small inaccuracy leads to a mistake and a broken barrier.
Team races are always the most emotionally difficult for the competitors, because every mistake weighs on the whole team.
With the least competitive experience is Draga Todorova, who last year had a modest experience of jumping 80 cm, and this year she already jumps 130 cm and in her career for a year of hard riding, as of today she is already the Balkan champion . Draga is one of the riders who takes care of his horse wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly and always looks for the fault in himself and does not blame his four-legged partner.
Smiling and beaming, the Nikolovi sisters scored a prize place in such a tournament for the first time.
Maria Garkova is an elegant and controlled rider, and in both heats she made only one mistake.
The Turkish team took second place in the team race, five points behind, and the Romanian team came third.
At the final of the test, Irina Nikolova was the last to start, and even if she had made a mistake, the Bulgarians would have been the winners again, but she did not make a mistake, and over the ring there was so much applause from the Bulgarian campaigner, as if the whole stadium was full of Bulgarians.
After the anthem was played for our team victory, Elena Nikolova was again first in the individual race, who did not make a single mistake in both heats. Third place went to Maria Garkova, fifth was Irina Nikolova.
Thus, the anthem was played consecutively twice, and apparently, according to the Turks, the most cheerful Bulgarian song, which is given a lap of honor, is “Po-poleka” by Stefan Valdobrev, and in honor of our female champions, it was played twice.
