On June 28, 2024, new functionalities were successfully implemented in the Information System of the Commercial Register and the Register of Non-Profit Legal Entities, through which the volume of information exchanged by the Bulgarian Commercial Register with the registers of the EU member states through the mutual exchange system was expanded bridging the registers (BRIS).

Thus, Bulgaria became one of the first countries to implement the functionalities of the BRIS 3 version.

From 30 March 2022, our commercial register is linked to the Commercial Registers Interconnection System (BRIS). This allowed through the European portal for electronic justice, section “Commercial registers, search for companies in the EU” to make inquiries by company and EIC for the companies that fall within the scope of Directive 2017/1132 of the European Parliament and of the Council – information on current status, cross-border mergers, etc.

The current expansion is in implementation of the amendments to the Law on the Commercial Register and the Register of Non-Profit Legal Entities, transposing the new rules under Directive (EU) 2019/1151 of the European Parliament and of the Council in relation to the use of digital tools and processes in the field of company law.

After the implementation of the new functionalities in the information system of the Trade Register and the Register of Non-Profit Legal Entities (TRRYULNC), data is already exchanged during cross-border registration of a branch. Thus, based on a notification from BRIS, information about the branch and its closure will be reflected on the account of a company that has registered a branch in another member state, and in case of changes in the parent company, they will be reflected on the account of its branch.
