One gold, two silver medals and 3 certificates of honor were won by the Bulgarian team at the International English Language Olympiad, which took place in Constanta, Romania. This was announced by the press center of the Ministry of Education and Science.
A gold medal in the individual competition at level B1 was won by Trajan Beshkov from Profiled Language High School “Exarch Yosif I” in Lovech. Nadezhda Dylgerova from Profiled High School “Peyo K. Yavorov” – Petrich, won the silver medal in the individual competition at level B2. At the same level, Alexandra Atanasova from the Language High School “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” in Haskovo was awarded an honorary diploma.
The team project of the participants at level B2: Trayan Beshkov from PEG “Exarch Joseph I”, Nadezhda Dylgerova from PG “Peyo K. Yavorov”, Alexandra Atanasova from EG “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov” and Seyrula Lyutvi from “P.R. Slaveykov” SU in Kardzhali, was awarded an honorary diploma.
The team project of the participants for level C1: Jessica Petkova from the “Romain Rolland” GPCHE in Stara Zagora, Niko Anastasiou from the I AEG in Sofia, Veneta Kostadinchev from the NPMG “Acad. Lyubomir Chakalov” in Sofia and Anton Lazarov from the PPMG “Acad. N. Obreshkov” in Razgrad, won the silver medal in this category. Anton Lazarov was awarded a certificate of honor in the individual competition at the C1 level.
200 participants in 35 teams from 15 countries competed in the two mandatory categories: individual and team at levels B1, B2 and C1. The individual competition includes a written test, integrated skills (audio-video comprehension and essay writing) and speaking. The team project consists of creating a digital/multimedia/dramatized representation of a scene that the team considers particularly important to the action of the novel, listed in the bibliography for the relevant level – B1, B2 and C1.
The leaders of the team are Stoyanka Delibeeva, a teacher at 18. SU “William Gladstone”, Sofia, and Vera Georgieva, a teacher at EG “Prof. Dr. Asen Zlatarov”, Haskovo.
The International Olympiad in English is organized for the second year in a row. From the first edition of IELO 2023, Bulgaria returned with one gold medal for team project at level B2, two certificates of honor at the same level in the individual competition and a bronze medal in the individual competition at level B1.
