A member of the District Court in Haskovo determined a measure of remand “detention in custody” against a woman accused of drug trafficking for BGN 1.751 million through the “Captain Andreevo” border checkpoint, the Court announced.
Marinela Dinkina (47 years old) was detained on February 10 of this year at the point of exit from the country to Turkey, after customs officials found 47,920 kilograms of marijuana and 3,340 kilograms of cocaine hidden behind the back seats in the van she was driving.
Dinkina crossed the country’s border 50 times with the same purpose for a payment of BGN 300, it became clear in the case. There is also the real danger of its concealment, as the committed crime is serious and intentional with a high degree of public danger, the object of the crime being of particularly large proportions and the case being particularly serious. If her act is proven, the law stipulates a penalty of “imprisonment” from 15 to 20 years and a fine of up to BGN 200,000 to BGN 300,000.
The decision is subject to appeal and protest before the Court of Appeal – Plovdiv.
