At the head of a strong delegation, the FIFA President met with the President of Burundi on priority education and training programs for young people, including the construction project of the Intwari Stadium which will notably provide opportunities for young people to flourish in sport.
“The President of FIFA has promised to make his contribution so that this stadium is exemplary in compliance with international standards,” said Ms. Rosine Gatoni, Spokesperson for the President of the Republic.
The FIFA President praised the involvement of the government of Burundi in general and the Head of State in particular in the promotion of sporting activities. He thus announced the contribution of FIFA through the “Football for schools” Project launched this Saturday in Buganda in Cibitoke Province.
“Having football in all schools will allow talent detection. There is an infinite number of talents in Burundi and in Africa, we are going to make them shine”, suggested Mr Gianni INFANTINO who added that support from FIFA will also be provided through strengthening the capacities of footballers and their teachers through the establishment of football academies.
It should be noted that after the audience, the Burundian Number One and the FIFA President jointly visited the Intwari Stadium construction site which is halfway through with the aim of inquiring about the state of progress.
