The delegation of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FBCCI), the top organization of businessmen of the country, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Army Chief General Walker-uz-Zaman. At this time, the businessmen sought the cooperation of the army to prevent extortion.

FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam led the delegation in a courtesy meeting at the Army Headquarters in Dhaka on Thursday (August 22). The delegation consisted of FBCCI former president Abdul Awal Mintu, Mir Nasir Hossain, AK Azad, Md. Jasim Uddin, Managing Director of Square Pharmaceuticals Militad Tapan Chowdhury, President of Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry Ashraf Ahmed, Acting President of BGMEA Khandaker Rafiqul Islam, CEO of Standard Chartered Bank Bangladesh Nasir Ejaz Vijay.

During the courtesy meeting with the army chief, the business leaders sought the cooperation of the Bangladesh Army to prevent extortion, including strengthening the security of industrial and business establishments in order to ensure a business-friendly environment in the country and to keep the production and supply system of industrial factories operational.

Meanwhile, FBCCI President Mahbubul Alam thanked the Bangladesh Seva Bahini for conducting various activities and patrolling in the industrial areas on the issue of industrial security. At that time, he expressed interest in working with the army to strengthen the security of the industry and restore confidence among businessmen.

The army chief assured to fulfill the assigned responsibility to ensure the security of all the citizens of the country as well as the business community. He said that the Bangladesh Army is always active to ensure that domestic and foreign investors can carry out commercial activities smoothly, including providing security to industrial establishments, supply chains, and ports.

Chief of Army Staff General Waqar-uz-Zaman urged the business community to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies in case of any threat to any industry.
