Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev announced that a decree was signed today, according to which BGN 184,000,000 will be allocated through the budgets for remuneration in higher education institutions and scientific organizations.

“We rushed because we don’t know what will be decided, so that people don’t say – they hid and didn’t fulfill their promise, that’s why we did it in such an urgent order, so that the unions and the people in the academic staff are calm,” said Glavchev.

The assistants’ salaries will rise to BGN 2,516. Thus, their remuneration will increase by BGN 1,000 in just one year. This is a very serious investment in the youth, the intellect and the future of Bulgaria, assured the Minister of Education, Galin Tsokov.

“We are already talking with the social partners and the Council of Rectors that these funds, which are for reaching this 180% of the average gross salary, will not be given for the number of qualified persons, teachers and assistants. They will be distributed according to two main coefficients. the first place is a significant increase in the lowest-funded professional fields so far. The allocation of funds to higher education institutions will be in accordance with the quality coefficient – i.e. universities that have a higher quality of education will receive more funds,” said Tsokov.
