Both the capital markets of the country traded between rise and fall of various indices in the outgoing week (August 11 to 15). Along with this, the market capitalization of both the stock exchanges has increased by about 18 thousand crores. However, during the discussion period, the amount of money traded in Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) has increased but in Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) it has decreased.

On Saturday (August 17), DSE-CSE’s weekly market review revealed these data.

Shares and units worth Tk 6,411 crore were traded in Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) in the outgoing week. Shares and units worth Tk 3,339,860,000 were traded in the previous week. That is, the transaction in DSE has increased by Tk 3 thousand 71 crore 26 lakh within a week.

On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at Tk 7 lakh 8 thousand 964 crore 40 lakh. On the last working day of the previous week, the market capitalization of DSE was Tk 7 lakh 3 thousand 913 crore 8 lakh. That is, the market capital has increased by 5 thousand 51 crore 31 lakh taka in the span of a week.

During the week, the main index of DSE DSEX decreased by 20.97 points or 0.35 percent to 5 thousand 903 points. Among other indices, DSE-30 index rose by 46.62 points or 2.19 percent to 2,179 points, DSE Shariah index decreased by 10.19 points or 0.80 percent to 1,264 points and DSMEX index (SME index) by 154.48 points. Or 10.48 percent decreased to 1 thousand 291 points.

A total of 398 shares and units of companies were traded on DSE in the outgoing week. Among the companies, share and unit prices increased for 105, prices decreased for 278 and prices remained unchanged for 15. Shares and units of 15 companies were not traded.

Another capital market Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) traded shares and units worth Tk 95 crore 2 lakh in the outgoing week. Shares and units worth Tk 260 crore 47 lakh were traded in the previous week. That is, during the week, the transaction in CSE has decreased by 232 crore 55 lakh taka.

On the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at 740 thousand 99 crore 62 lakh taka. On the last working day of the previous week, the market capitalization of CSE was Tk 727,252,260,000. That is, the market capital has increased by 12 thousand 874 crore 35 lakh taka in a week.

In the outgoing week, the overall index of CSE CASPI increased by 231.80 points or 1.37 percent to 17 thousand 51 points. Among other indices of CSE, CSE-30 index fell by 0.28 percent to 13,332 points, CSCX increased by 1.25 percent to 10,259 points, CSI index increased by 1.41 percent to 1,081 points and SESMEX (SME Nodex ) decreased by 1.26 percent to 3 thousand 75 points.

A total of 344 companies’ shares and units were traded on the CSE in the outgoing week. Among the companies, share and unit prices increased in 170, decreased in 164 and remained unchanged in 10.
