In the closing week (February 11 to 15), both the stock markets of the country saw a mixed reaction. During this time the volume of transactions with the index decreased. Besides, the market capitalization in the stock exchange decreased by more than 6 thousand 100 crores in the last week.

This information was revealed in the weekly market review on Saturday (February 17).

7 thousand 440 crore 39 lakh 70 thousand taka was traded in the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on the last working day of the farewell week. And in the week before the farewell week, 8 thousand 475 crore 20 lakh 80 thousand rupees were traded. That is, the transaction in DSE has decreased by 1 thousand 34 crore 81 lakh 11 thousand taka in the span of a week.

The market capitalization of DSE on the last working day of the week preceding the farewell week was Tk 7 lakh 72 thousand 526 crore 60 lakh 47 thousand 119. And on the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capital stood at 7 lakh 66 thousand 466 crore 86 lakh 80 thousand 538 taka. That is, the market capital has decreased by 6 thousand 59 crore 73 lakh 66 thousand 581 taka or 0.78 percent during the week.

During the week, DSE’s main index DSEX fell by 37.10 points or 0.58 percent to 6,336 points. Among other indices, the DSE Shariah index fell by 5.11 points or 0.37 percent and the DSE-30 index rose by 18.854 points or 0.88 percent to 1,382 points and 1,157 points respectively.

A total of 409 shares and units of companies participated in the transaction on DSE in the outgoing week. Among the companies, 73 advanced, 309 declined and 16 were unchanged. Shares and units of 11 companies were not traded.

Another capital market, Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE), traded 158 crore 75 lakh 12 thousand 135 taka on the last working day of the outgoing week. And in the week before the farewell week, 126 crore 60 lakh 12 thousand 33 taka were traded. That is, the transaction in DSE decreased by Tk 32 crore 15 lakh 102 during the week.

The market capitalization of CE on the last working day of the week preceding the farewell week was Tk 7 lakh 63 thousand 728 crore 9 lakh 90 thousand 119. And on the last working day of the outgoing week, the market capitalization stood at 7 lakh 63 thousand 649 crore 36 lakh taka. That is, the market capital has decreased by 78 crore 73 lakh 90 thousand taka or 0.01 percent during the week.

In the week, the overall index of CSE CASPI decreased by 5.21 points or 0.02 percent to 18 thousand 290 points. Among other indices of CSE, CSCX decreased by 1.25 points or 0.01 percent to 18 thousand 290 points, CSE-30 index increased by 36.67 points or 0.27 percent to 10 thousand 950 points and CSI index decreased by 0.97 points or 0. 08 percent increased to 1 thousand 173 points.

A total of 352 companies’ shares and units were traded on the CSE during the outgoing week. Among the companies, 101 rose, 225 fell and 26 remained unchanged.
