On May 5, 2013, a case has been filed against Workers Party president Rashed Khan Menon in connection with the casualty of the attack by the security forces at the Shapla Chattar of Motijheel in the capital. Expressing surprise at this incident, Bangladesh Workers Party protested.

The case against Menon is protested by the Workers’ Party

The protest was announced at the Politburo meeting at the party’s central office on Wednesday (August 21).

It has been said on behalf of the Workers’ Party that the Workers’ Party has openly opposed the 13-point demand for custody by opposing women’s policy and education policy. But, the measures taken by the law and order forces at Shapla Chattar had nothing to do with the Workers Party or Rashed Khan Menon as president. Similarly, the complaint filed in the International Criminal Tribunal accusing Rashed Khan Menon of the murders in Mirpur centered on the quota movement is equally surprising.

It is also said that Rashed Khan Menon and the Workers Party have always asked to accept the demands of the students and even to resolve the demands of the students through discussion in the meeting with the Prime Minister. Statements by the Workers’ Party during that period bear this out. Such complaints or prosecutions are not in keeping with the substance of the July-August mass uprising, but rather create confusion about it.

The Workers’ Party meeting expressed hope that the interim government would stand firm in its commitment to establish the rule of law and refrain from any retaliatory incidents.
