Caritas, the organization of the Catholic Church’s auxiliary activities, came forward with a helping hand to those who were affected by the earthquake that occurred on February 6 in southeastern Turkey and Syria.

Caritas is the first organization to come to the aid of any emergency in the world. This organization is active in all countries. The Caritas organization in other countries comes forward as a helping hand in the miseries of a country. Accordingly, the Ambrosian Caritas organization in Italy is giving 20,000 euros as the first installment to deal with the emergency situation created after the earthquakes that occurred in Southeast Turkey and Syria on February 6th. In addition to this, the Bishops’ Committee of the Catholic Church in Italy also allocated 500,000 euros for emergency assistance.

The two national Caritas organizations in Turkey and Syria and various church representatives, especially the Apostolic Vicar of Anatolia and the President of Caritas in Turkey, Bishop Paolo Bisetti, and the Ambrosian Caritas organization in Italy, which maintains historical cooperative relations with humanitarian workers, have also established a helpline facility in this particular situation.

The Ambrosian Caritas organization has run and funded many social projects in recent years in earthquake-ravaged areas in Turkey and Syria.
