The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin organized, Thursday October 5, 2023, an evening of tasting local products manufactured by Beninese companies. It is as part of the celebration of the month of local consumption, the month of October.
What you should know:The Month of Local Consumption is an initiative of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce on the recommendation of UEMOA which aims to promote local products, the promotion of the regional private sector as well as the intensification of intra-community trade. It is therefore to encourage the Beninese to consume products from home that the CCI Benin organized an evening to taste the foods produced in Benin by Beninese companies with a marketing certificate. Thus, the consular institution allowed companies to exhibit their various products to the admiration of the public. At the start, the Vice-President Coordinator of the Regions at the CCI Benin, Christiane Tossou, underlined that the government’s vision which is to make Benin a country which produces what it consumes and which it consumes what it he produces. According to him, the consular institution is working to make this vision a reality. This is why, she specifies, “before the organization of this evening, the CCI Benin awarded marketing certificates to companies whose products meet regulatory standards”. According to the Vice-President, this first edition of “Special tastings of local products” initiated by the CCI Benin and which will take place every Thursday in October aims to “lay a red carpet for local consumption”. She expressed the wish that local consumption be anchored in the habits of the Beninese so that they promote local products in the month of October but also throughout the year. The Vice-President, Christiane Tossou, finally , launched an appeal to all business leaders who do not yet have the marketing certificate to contact the consular institution. “The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Benin has put in place services and support programs to enable companies to hold their marketing certificate,” she concluded.

For Saïdath Ousmane Sani, sales manager of Afrijus, all products are made with natural ingredients grown in Benin, and do not contain any preservatives. “We must promote made in Benin. We need to show everyone that we are also capable of producing ourselves and consuming our own food,” insisted the promoter of BISIKUITI, Bidé Ruth Doris.
