The CENI in a zone of turbulence! – Independent Congo

A few days ago, a parochial quarrel broke out between Corneille Nangaa, former president of the Independent National Commission (CENI) and the current management team. That day, Corneille Nangaa held something like this: “The voter identification and registration operation is marked by amateurism. The figures on voter registration are false. The quality of the photos leaves something to be desired on the voter cards ». He drove the point home by saying that “The current CENI team has had an original sin since its establishment. The steering committee is not unanimous since several delegates have not been appointed by their components”. Stupor and tremors! Every action calls for an equal and opposite reaction. This is Newton’s third law.

This explaining that, on March 14, Didi Manara, second vice-president of the CENI stepped up to the plate. He stated bluntly that Corneille Nangaa cannot set himself up as a lecturer. After his term, he left rent arrears. The building housing the head office was in a very advanced state of disrepair with degrading sanitary facilities, tutti quanti… Deuce! How could he claim to organize elections in a country of 2.3 million km² when he is unable to manage the smells of toilets? Saperlipopette! The day after these crisp and thunderous statements, it was the turn of the political party “Action for the Dignity of Congo and its People (ADCP)” to go to the front to denounce certain technical details. For those who do not know, the ADCP is a political party created by Corneille Nangaa himself. He has since declared himself a candidate for the presidential election despite US sanctions. Hell and damnation! But he won’t be able to campaign with Yankee dollars. It’s forbidden!

My friend who has gone mad is also considering starting a political party and running for president. He says he has big ideas, big projects for our country coveted by all neighboring countries and China. Anyway next!

According to my friend who knows what is happening in every nook and corner of ramshackle Kinshasa, the priests of the National Episcopal Conference of Congo (CENCO) and the pastors of the Church of Christ in Congo (ECC) have also mouthed the trumpet. They denounce the fact that sensitive materials, intended for the operation of identification and enrollment of voters, are in circulation in the hands of individuals who do not have the right to do so. They claim that there are registration centers that cannot be found anywhere on the ground except on papers. All of this risks making the electoral process less credible. Last week, the CENCO priests even made the rounds of various Belgian and European authorities to talk about the worrying security situation in the east of the country and the major challenges linked to the 2023 elections. unspeckled foils between the CENI and Corneille Nangaa, it is the turn of certain political parties, which were in ambush, to fire red bullets at the electoral center. This foreshadows oratorical contests during the vote in parliament on the law on the distribution of seats. They demand the establishment of an impartial and consensual CENI and Constitutional Court. They demand at the same time that the elections must be organized within the constitutional deadlines, notwithstanding the conflict with the M23 in North Kivu. Hell and damnation! As if all this were not enough, the CENI declares that it did not receive the funds provided for the elections on time. Stupor and tremors!
