The media reported that “the Presidential Council sent a letter to the person assigned by it to manage the position of Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Mohammed Al-Shukri, informing him of the end of the horizon of military escalation and the smooth handover of the bank. The Council appreciated what it described as the high national responsibility that the assigned security force and its leadership had demonstrated.”

According to what was circulated, the Presidency confirmed in its letter to Al-Shukry: “Decision No. 3 of 2018 regarding your assignment as governor of the Central Bank is still in effect, expressing the election of the people’s representatives to you, in a valid public session, and it has not been cancelled in any other session according to the controls in effect in decision-making.”

The Presidential Council noted that “the Supreme Council of State endorsed your election in official letter No. 059 dated 08/04/2024,” and the Presidency said: “Despite our understanding of your keenness to achieve broader consensus, and your annoyance with the non-existent decision to suspend you by the House of Representatives, we call on you to join your work at the headquarters of the Central Bank of Libya quickly, and to begin implementing the economic and financial rescue plans, in cooperation with the Board of Directors, which enjoys high professional competencies and expresses broad political consensus.”
