Chinese brands have already arrived to almost all market segments of the world of two wheels. Large 1000 cc maxi-trails, cruiser motorcycles equipped with powerful V4 engines, low and medium displacement sports naked bikes, scooters of all types and displacements, 400 cc inline four-cylinder racing machines such as the KOVE 450 RR… .

Nobody doubts the effort that the big Chinese manufacturers are making to play all the clubs on the market, some with more or less success. CFMoto is one of those Asian factories that seems to be willing to meet all the demands of its customers, and if there is no surprise in between, it seems that it will also be the first Chinese brand to launch a self-developed superbikealso equipped with a powerful V4 engine.

The news broke a few months ago, when some patents filed by CFMoto in its country of origin were leaked in order to register the design of a four-cylinder V4 engine mounted inside a motorcycle with a markedly sporty character. very much in line with the design already shown in its two-cylinder 450 SR.

Although the propeller did not specify its displacement in the patent documents, yes, a figure was reflected: 150 kW, that is, 204 hp, the power that this powerful block could perhaps develop. The images of the engine also left no room for doubt, and due to its dimensions it was already evident that the engine would have a high displacement, also with its four cylinders inclined at 75º and with a liquid cooling system that revealed two independent water ducts passing just through the middle of the cylinder bank.

Curiously, if we go back a few years, We found a precedent in a European factory, and it is none other than KTM. The Austrians and the Chinese from CFMoto closed a collaboration agreement just a couple of years ago in order to facilitate the commercialization of KTM within the large eastern market, and in exchange, CFMoto took advantage of some of the Austrian technologies -among them its engine LC8c- and also landed in Europe taking advantage of part of the commercial network of the Mattighofen manufacturer.

The engine we are referring to is a prototype that KTM prepared before its final landing in MotoGP; That first version of its V4 engine also had its cylinders at a 75º angle (they finally opted for a 90º solution) and, like the CFMoto engine, it placed one of its cooling tubes crossing the V formed by the cylinders by the bottom. Chance? Difficult, really.

What we can confirm at this point is that CFMoto is already testing its new 1000 cc V4 sports car in China. On the web of motorcycle online has published a brief 9-second video where you can see -in poor quality- a sports-style motorcycle with a four-cylinder engine in full test, a little revealing video that, at least, serves to verify the progress that CFMoto is making. obtaining in the development of this promising superbike.

When and where we will see the final version of the CFMoto V4 is a mystery; if we take into account that there is already a fully functional real test unit, We must not rule out the possibility of seeing this motorcycle before the end of the year, perhaps in Milan already in November, an unbeatable showcase for CFMoto to present what will be the first and most advanced 1000 cc sports car ever made in China.
