You may not know the value of some items at a glance. Sometimes things that are left unattended in the corner or bought for a pittance can cost millions. Such is the case with you in the UK. A young woman bought a chair from an Akri shop for just Rs 500 and sold it at auction for Rs 16.4 lakh.

The woman bought the chair from a shop in Brighton, East Sussex, UK. But the young woman did not know the value of it when she bought it. When contacted by an archaeologist, the chair was discovered in the early twentieth century at the Avant-Garde Art School in Vienna, Austria. The chair was designed in 1902 by the famous Austrian painter Cologne Moser. Moser was an artist in the Vienna Secession movement who deviated from the traditional way.

This chair is a modern version of the traditional 18th century ladder-back chair. The main decorative element is the checkerboard-like grid of webbing on the seat and back of the chair. The chair, which was auctioned off, was bought by an Austrian for Rs 16.4 lakh.
