A delegation led by the Chairman of the Georgian Parliamentary Committee on Education, Science and Youth Givi Mikanadze visited the State Committee for Work with the Diaspora.

As Day.Az was informed in the State Committee for Work with Diaspora, after welcoming the guests, committee chairman Fuad Muradov spoke in detail about the directions of the committee’s activities, the foundation of which was laid by national leader Heydar Aliyev, and the work done in the field of diaspora construction. It was noted that behind the high dynamics of the strategic partnership currently being implemented between our countries, the contribution made by energy and other economic projects, the author of which is Azerbaijan, to strengthening regional development and peace, there is a strong will of the leaders of the countries.

The Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Diaspora touched upon projects implemented in connection with Azerbaijanis living in Georgia, emphasized the importance of integrating our compatriots into local society, eliminating possible facts of assimilation, the need to increase the participation of Azerbaijani youth studying in higher educational institutions of Georgia in social and public life of the country, spoke about the work done in this direction.

The guests were informed in detail about the integration centers operating in areas densely populated by Azerbaijanis. It was brought to attention that there are 5 centers in Tbilisi and Kvemo Kartli, where Azerbaijani, Georgian and other languages ​​are taught, various types of art and sports are studied, applicants are trained, etc. It was noted that another such center is planned to open in Rustavi. It was emphasized that last year the Ganun Legal Center in Tbilisi provided assistance to 1,280 of our compatriots in legal matters.

Givi Mikanadze thanked for the warm welcome and stated that there are centuries-old friendly and good neighborly relations between the two countries. The Georgian guest spoke about the work carried out by the state in the field of integration of Azerbaijanis into local society, projects implemented in connection with the Georgian language, and expanding educational opportunities for Azerbaijanis.

The Chairman of the Georgian Parliament Committee on Education, Science and Youth reported on the discussion of issues of cooperation with various government agencies during the visit, and expressed satisfaction with the readiness of the State Committee for joint cooperation.

The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Georgia to the Republic of Azerbaijan Zurab Pataradze.

It should be noted that the delegation includes members of the committee – deputies Georgiy Sosiashvili and Rostom Chkheidze, committee secretary David Giorgadze, assistant to the committee chairman Anatoly Korepanov.
