Devotees donned beauty and elegance at a vegetarian festival held at a Chinese temple on the Thai island of Phuket.
On the island of Phuket in Thailand there is a temple called Samkom where Chinese people worship. It is a sacred temple for the Chinese people and there is a seven-day vegetarian festival every year. But for the last two years, the festival was unable to be held due to Corona.
However, hundreds of devotees enthusiastically participated in the ceremony that took place yesterday. Chinese people carry images of the gods they worship in processions. Then they went on the streets with knives and huge swords stuck in their jaws.
It is said that stabbing the unit with very sharp weapons is a sign of sins committed during non-Saiva festivals. The devotees pay their respects to the deity by brandishing very large swords and knives in a way that makes the onlookers cringe.
