Hello from Mars! The Chinese rover Zhurong sent a selfie to the base that was taken next to the platform on which it landed on the surface of the Red Planet on May 15 after leaving the Tianwen-1 probe. First he deposited a remotely operated camera on the ground, then moved back slightly to pose next to the platform, from which he subsequently took another image in which the footprints of his wheels left on the red Martian sand are clearly visible.

The rover sent a third photo that captures the panorama of Utopia Planitia, where it got off. The Chinese space agency CNSA hopes that Zhurong, which means God of Fire and weighs about 240 kilos, can run for at least 90 days before the power runs out. On Thursday, the Arizona Univerist of NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory released a photo taken on June 6 showing Zhurong and the platform taken with the HiRise camera aboard the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter probe, which orbits Mars, from a height of 287 kilometers.
