In a statement to the press following the preview screening of the feature film “En Margine”, by Moroccan director Jihan El Bahar, Mr. Bensaid indicated that the “Cinema Festival” offers the public, notably young people, the opportunity to learn more about the riches of the national artistic landscape in its cinematographic aspect.
Organized by the Nelio Agency on the initiative of the Moroccan Cinematographic Center and the Moroccan Chamber of Cinema Rooms, this event also aims to respond to the aspirations of the young audience, being the largest mass of spectators, by encouraging cinematographic production and the artistic valorization of Moroccan works, he underlined.
The minister also called on all stakeholders in the film sector to actively contribute to the valorization and development of the seventh art with a view to achieving financial autonomy with a view to achieving an autonomous Moroccan film industry, adding that to achieve this, we must act on the attractiveness of cinemas and the development of their artistic and entertainment programs in such a way as to promote the reconnection of the public with these spaces and the attraction of new generations.
For her part, the director, Jihan El Bahar, said that her work “In the margins”, the main roles of which were performed by Aziz Dades, Majdoline Al-Idrissi, Hind Benjbara, Khalil Oubaaqi, Fatimazahra Bennaser and Abdellatif Chawki, addresses social issues through the stories of characters who live on the margins of society and aspire to realize their dreams despite difficulties.
And to add, in a statement to MAP, that in this work, she continued her approach which “consists of shedding light on characters who lead a life on the margins of society, by adopting black comedy”, noting that “this style, unlike caricature for example, does not seek to make the viewer laugh, but to invite them to spontaneous reflection on the irony of reality”.
This cultural event will see the screening of more than 50 films in different cinemas across the Kingdom at a unified price, in addition to the organization of various artistic encounters, targeting a diverse audience including students and young film buffs, in addition to families, professionals of the sector and fans of the seventh art.
