Kuwait – WAA
The President of the Iraqi Football Association, Adnan Darjal, confirmed that the circumstances of the match did not help our national team to win and obtain the three points from Kuwait.

“We were keen to get the three points to put us at the top of the group, but the expulsion that occurred at the beginning of the match confused the situation,” Darjal said in a statement following the end of the match between our national team and its Kuwaiti counterpart, which was followed by the (INA), indicating that “the players were disciplined tactically and played a distinguished match despite the hot weather and high humidity that affected the performance of the two teams.”
He added, “In general, getting a point is better than nothing in a match in which difficult circumstances occurred,” stressing that “there were real opportunities for the team that were not exploited properly.”
He pointed out that “the match was a Gulf classic that returned after a long time,” praising “the audience attendance that decorated Sheikh Jaber Stadium.”
He continued: “The match achieved its goals, but in terms of the result, we did not expect this result,” offering his “thanks to the players and the coaching staff for what they presented, and promising the fans that the future will be better.”
