The Friends of the Guitar Association will hold the First International Classical Guitar Festival 2014 “A Cuerda Viva” with the guitarists Ricardo López from El Salvador, Adolfo Méndez from Guatemala and Maikov Álvarez, organizer of the event and director of the Association.

The objective of the Festival is to promote the development of classical guitar in the country and strengthen ties of support between guitarists in the region, the Association stated.

“The festival will feature the participation of national guitarists with recognized careers as well as the Guatemalan soloist Adolfo Méndez and the Guitarist Orchestra, Armando Morales of Nicaragua,” it was reported in a statement.

The Festival will take place from August 28 to 31 in the Auditorium of the National Museum of Anthropology (MUNA).

On the 28th and 29th the concerts will be at 7:00 pm and on the 30th and 31st at 5:00 pm

It was reported that from August 28 to 30 the concerts will cost $3.00 per person and on Sunday the 31st admission will be free.

Álvarez, organizer of the event, is a classical guitarist who graduated from the Higher Institute of Arts of Cuba.

He is currently director of the Youth Guitar Orchestra of the Choir and Orchestra System of the Ministry of Culture (SECULTURA).
