A comeback you don’t see every day. The Los Angeles Clippers were already trailing by 35 points tonight (Tuesday-Wednesday) against Washington, but returned to a crazy 115: 116 at the Wizards, who recorded a fourth straight home loss. Danny Abdia finished with 11 points (4 of 8 from the field), three rebounds, two assists and a loss in 21 minutes on the floor.
The Clippers had a hard time producing points at the start of the game, with the first quarter ending in a plus 9 for Washington (23:32) and in the second quarter the team from the capital recorded a one-sided 13:34 and went down to the half with a 30-point lead. At the start of the third quarter the gap had already grown to 35, but 40 points by the Clippers in the last two quarters set the second-largest comeback in NBA history (Utah erased a 36-yard deficit against Denver in 1996).
And how exactly did this happen? In the most dramatic way possible of course. 10 seconds to the end the hosts had a six-point lead, but Luke Kenard scored seven insane points, including a three-pointer and a foul on the verge of the final buzzer. He finished with 25 points in total, with Amir Kofi contributing 29 points. For the loser, who dropped to 25:23, Bradley Bill stood out with 23 points and nine rebounds.
The LA team has not stopped surprisingly recently with unusual comebacks, with the last two weeks mimicking a 25-point deficit against Denver, a 24-point deficit against Philadelphia and now 35 against the Wizards. Last season the Clippers trailed 31 points against Utah en route to the biggest ever comeback in the playoffs.
