Villagers and older people take more responsibility in preparing for winter. “They understand that they need to start collecting firewood in advance, and not when winter is just around the corner. The firewood must dry out. We are cutting – this is raw wood. It will burn a little worse, the heat transfer will be less. If you prepare firewood in the spring, summer, then in the fall the heat output will be much better,” Artem Golodyuk, chief engineer of the Brest forestry enterprise, told a BelTA correspondent.

The peak demand for firewood begins in July and continues until the onset of cold weather. Buyers can purchase both round and split firewood. “We have information about splitting firewood on the forestry website, and the phone numbers of the workshop and production department are listed. In general, if a person calls any of our numbers, he will be directed where to contact. If we are talking about firewood in round form, then you can call both the forestry enterprise and the forestry department. We usually redirect them to their place of residence so that logistics are more convenient—closer and cheaper,” explained Artem Golodyuk.

“During a shift, the operator can chop from 12 cubic meters to 20 cubic meters of firewood. That is, three or four cars are produced per day. Both people and businesses are contacting us. They most readily take firewood that contains both deciduous and coniferous species,” said Alexander Semenyuk, head of the wood processing point at the Brest forestry enterprise.

On average, the forestry enterprise harvests about 190 thousand cubic meters of wood per year. About 40% of this volume is used for firewood. Brest forestry enterprise is located on the territory of Brest, partly Maloritsky, Kamenets, Kobrin and Zhabinkovsky districts.
