The Collective of 11 candidates for the presidential election has increased its meetings and political declarations in recent days. Last Saturday, the 11 candidates gathered at the Louvre hotel in Antaninarenina declared that they are looking for solutions to avoid the pre- and post-electoral crisis in the country. Despite the economic situation, the Collective nevertheless insists on maintaining the date of the first round of the presidential election on November 9.

Roland Ratsiraka of the Malagasy Tonga Saina (MTS) party, spokesperson for this collective, declared that there is a violation of the Constitution and various obstacles to the smooth running of the pre-campaign. Apart from the validation of Andry Rajoelina’s candidacy and the establishment of collegial government by the HCC, which they protest against, they decry the inequality of opportunity and treatment between the candidates. The neutrality and impartiality of the public administration is thus severely doubted by this Collective in this pre-electoral period. Roland Ratsiraka accuses the administration in particular of maneuvering to block flight authorizations for helicopters of the outgoing president’s competitors for the electoral campaign.

Roland Ratsiraka announces that other meetings will take place next week, for his part he calls for a large meeting of the 11 candidates with deputies, the FFKM, civil society, unions and all the active forces of the nation to implement an ideal solution for the country. Furthermore, Roland Ratsiraka calls for the overhaul of the CENI and the establishment of the CES (Special Electoral Court) as in 2013.
