Colombia: The Colombian Catholic Church released a list of priests who sexually abused minors. The list of priests who sexually abused children between 1995-2019 has been released.
Some of them were expelled from the priesthood at least for a short period of time. But after the punishment, they returned to their positions again, according to the journalist Juan Pablo Barrientas who investigated this. He also requested the judges to release the list of priests accused of abuse in the Colombian Catholic Church. Archbishop Monsignor Ricardo Tobon stated that their names are being released to show that the church is working transparently without hiding the truth.
In 2019, Barrientas also published a book (Let the Children Come to Me) about child sexual abuse by priests. The church took legal action to stop the publication of the book, but to no avail. At least six priests in Colombia have been jailed for child sexual abuse.
