Police Commissioner Senior Superintendent Yaakov Shabtai sent a message today (Friday) to Minister of National Security Itamar Ben Gabir, during a visit to the base at the human facility.
Shabtai said: “The Israel Police will remain apolitical and act only according to the law.”
The commissioner arrived at the volunteer base of the Kfar Sirkin standby squad in South Sharon and talked with the fighters who were conducting a shooting range, as part of the preparations for the month of Ramadan.
Minister Ben Gabir last night demanded from the police commissioner “to cut the number of spokesmen of the Israel Police, and to refer standards to the fight against crime.”
According to Ben Gvir, “last June, nine standards and senior standard ranks were added to the barge division with the approval of the previous minister.” Ben Gvir also requested “to receive an efficiency plan and to cut at least 25% of the facilities of the array”.
Minister Ben Gabir met yesterday with the Tel Aviv district police chief, Ami Ashad, for the first time since he decided to depose him, in assessing the situation in the PAK ahead of the demonstrations against the legal reform.
