Mayra Mendoza held a meeting with representatives of institutions in the area and discussed the work carried out jointly during the last three and a half years of management, in addition to the works carried out in the district

The president of Quilmes, Mayra Mendoza, visited this Sunday the Center for Retirees and Pensioners (CJYP) “Remolcador Esperanza”, located at 2754 Miguel de Unamuno street, in Quilmes Oeste.

“I thank you when I hear the expressions of affection, but this has nothing to do with an individual project, it has to do with a serious and committed work project so that Quilmes can effectively move forward. That we stop seeing the neighboring districts grow and that, once and for all, we see how the work projects begin to give results in the district,” said Mayra Mendoza.

“In the midst of a pandemic, in three and a half years we have managed to make 1,000 works, and they are works that are not part of a video or a marketing strategy, they are works that can be seen, touched, that have transformed realities into our neighborhoods and that have recovered green, community spaces that are now available to families and to be enjoyed. One has to work to guarantee rights, I am convinced of that, such as the right to education, to work, to health and also to bone and enjoyment”, assured the community chief.

“We have to know that in Quilmes we are deserving of all these works of dignity. That is what the work project is about so that it continues in Quilmes and without a doubt, with this love, this strength and this accompaniment, we are going to do it. We are going to continue governing this Municipality, we are going to continue transforming many realities that are still waiting,” the Mayor stressed.

For her part, the reference of “Remolcador Esperanza”, Sabrina Mansilla, said: “I want to thank the Mayor for the support they always give us. Many did not trust us because we were women in this commission, and we showed them that women can. We are growing more and more, and thanks to the help we received from this management we were able to renovate the kitchen, the walls, the floor and the office”.

In turn, Graciela Mujica of the Development Society “Los Petroleros”, remarked: “It is the first time that we have received a subsidy. They put the LED lights on us, the cameras, it’s a lot”. While Cristian Sánchez, president of children’s soccer in “Loma Alegre”, commented: “Congratulations on the management, on behalf of the club we want to thank you for the subsidy you gave us, also for the help to get back on our feet after so many years.”

The CJYP “Remolcador Esperanza” received a solidarity support subsidy from PAMI within the framework of the pandemic, another to make spare parts based on an articulated action with the Commune, as well as accessed the benefit of the “Football For All” program promoted from said national body, within the framework of the World Cup in Qatar 2022.

In addition, this space has free PAMI services such as nursing, physiotherapy, beauty of hands and feet, and group choir workshop. Members of the Retiree Centers “3 Deseos”, “Barrio Loma Alegre” and the Development Societies “Los Petroleros”, “Loma Alegre” and “Lourdes” took part in the meeting.

As part of her tour of Quilmes Oeste, Mayra Mendoza visited the “Todo Caballo” workshop and gift shop, located for 17 years at Avenida La Plata 3025, and spoke with its owner, the renowned sculptor Juan Demeo, about its history, the work that he carries out day by day and he gave a gift to the Mayor.

Also participating in the activity were the Secretaries of Childhood and Social Development, Florencia Di Tullio; Management and Citizen Participation, Julián Bellido; the Undersecretary for Sports and Entities, Martina Bonanata; the president of HCD Quilmes, Fabio Báez, and the executive director of PAMI UGL 37, Fernando Rubino, among others.
