The compact foldable that beats Samsung? Oppo Find N2 Flip in international launch • HWzone

by time news

With a larger external screen than the Galaxy Z Flip4 and the best battery life in the category, the new premium device from the Chinese manufacturer gives quite a few reasons to keep our fingers crossed for its arrival in the Israeli market

If you desire a smart device with a foldable screen and are in Israel, for several years now your only choice has been Samsung and the main debate is between the large Fold models and the compact Flip models and between the latest fourth generation and the third generation that preceded it (with relatively minimal changes between them) . The domestic market is undoubtedly thirsty for more significant competition in this burgeoning field, and the current international launch for the Oppo Find N2 Flip gives a little hope as well as helps to justify the interest.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip offers a flexible and foldable main screen in AMOLED technology with a size of 6.8 inches, a resolution of 2,520×1,080 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz and a peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits which is very similar to the one that exists in Samsung, although the unique folding mechanism of Oppo allows to further minimize the infamous crease effect around the fold point. The secondary external screen is an equally interesting element, with a 3.26-inch AMOLED panel with a resolution of 720×386 pixels and a peak brightness of up to 900 nits that is protected by Gorilla Glass 5 coating – and offers a physical size and resolution significantly superior to those of the 1.9-inch screen ‘ on Flip4.

The Find N2 Flip offers an Android 13 system with a ColorOS 13 interface on top of it, internal UFS 3.1 storage of 256GB or 512GB plus 8GB to 16GB of dynamic memory, dual-channel Wi-Fi 6 connectivity, Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity, a built-in NFC chip, stereo speakers, A built-in side fingerprint scanner – and an advanced octa-core Dimensity 9000 Plus chip from MediaTek as an alternative to the equally advanced Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1 in Samsung’s latest model.

A photographic setup with a main 50-megapixel sensor and a secondary 8-megapixel sensor for wide-angle shots in the Find N2 Flip looks less advanced on paper than a pair of 12-megapixel sensors (including an optical stabilization setup for the main one) in the Galaxy Z Flip4 , and Samsung’s unique official IPX8 protection against possible water damage does not exist – but Oppo’s main advantage is a significantly larger internal 4,300mAh battery than the competitor’s, which gives superior results in almost all aspects according to the reviews and also benefits from faster 44-watt wired charging which returns up to 60 percent of the capacity within half an hour and reaches from zero to a hundred in a little less than an hour.

All Flip devices of their kind suffer from less battery life than many “standard” smart devices due to the use of reduced batteries to leave room for the delicate and sophisticated folding mechanisms – but the Oppo Find N2 Flip manages to make this shortcoming much more minor than before.

The marketing effort for the European audience is in full swing

The price of the Find N2 Flip in European countries will be between 1,050 euros and 1,100 euros including tax, which is approximately 3,950 shekels to 4,140 shekels – compared to a starting price of 3,200 shekels where you can currently find the Galaxy Z Flip4 with a similar storage capacity in local stores of 256GB (or less than 3,000 for the base version with 128GB internal storage). Is there justification to wait for Oppo’s foldable to land, or does Samsung’s existing price advantage make it irrelevant? Feel free to share your opinion in the comments.
