The Madrid startup Frenetic wants to strengthen its presence in the international markets in which it is already present, Europe and the United States. To do this, he has just incorporated Álvaro Salazar into his management team as director of technology for software after his time at Jobandtalent, Lookiero and StubHub. Jonas Muhlethaler will be the director of technology for magnetics. Frenetic also reinforces its management team with Jonathan Church – who worked for Power Electronics Expert UK and Saab – as product manager and Federico Vaccari, who will introduce the vision of large companies applied to startups.

Frenetic began its journey in 2018 when it developed the only software in the world that provides hardware parts directly to engineers. Since its birth, this startup founded by Chema Molina, set out to change the design of transformers, transistors and plates –key elements when it comes to managing the electric current that runs through a charger or a battery– to reduce their size. «Frenetic is a cloud platform. Clients use it to design their electronic products and later request a sample, which on many occasions will be manufactured in our laboratory”, explains Molina.

Companies from all over the world use its technology such as Indra, Fagor or Thales in Spain, Bosch or Hella in Germany and General Electric in the United States, among others. Why the name Frenetic? «We are dedicated to modeling with mathematical systems and artificial intelligence the magnetic fields that go at very high frequencies, super fast, millions of times per second. We wanted to put ourselves at the same level as those magnetic fields, hence the name Frenetic”, explains Molina. «It was born from the curiosity that I felt when I was doing my doctorate at the School of Industrialists of the UPM on energy systems of electric vehicles and airplanes. The problem of electrification is the industrialization of energy systems and more specifically of magnetic components, which are the key part thereof. To obtain a magnetic component, a three-phase process must be followed: design, sample and manufacture. This process is currently broken. Today’s engineers are highly specialized in electrical design and have very little knowledge of manufacturing and vice versa. The process is very slow and based on trial and error, which can take up to 1 year to go through these three phases. With Frenetic’s solution, the industry can speed up those processes to weeks, because our mathematical models are able to tell them how to design their systems in just a few minutes, and they can also manufacture them.”

Since 2018, this Spanish company has gone from having 15 employees to 60. There are already 4,000 customers registered on its online platform, and more than a million pieces have been manufactured through it. A technology that this startup has managed to develop with Venture Capital financing for an amount of 6 million euros. Within a year, it expects to bill close to 10 million euros.

Frenetic has just opened an artificial intelligence (AI) laboratory in Madrid, that will allow you to train your mathematical or artificial intelligence models, and verify that the result is correct. “It will make it easier for data engineers to have access to a mini-factory of magnetics, it will make it easier for them to observe and monitor the processes that are carried out, which will provide their software with a more complete industrialization layer,” adds its founder. One of the examples of the innovation that the opening of this laboratory implies will be seen in the artificial intelligence models for mass industrialization, more than one million units of magnetic components.
