The Estonian Concrete Association and the Estonian Association of Building Materials Manufacturers announce the launch of the Concrete Building of the Year 2023 competition. The purpose of the competition is to enhance the reputation of concrete as a domestic building material and promote the development of concrete architecture, technology and concrete construction.
“Concrete, as the most commonly used building material, is indispensable in the creation of a wide variety of buildings and structures, giving architects, designers and builders the opportunity to use the most diverse properties of the material,” said Imre Leetma, Chairman of the Board of the Estonian Concrete Union. “We hope to see such a versatile use of concrete within the framework of the ongoing competition.”
You can submit structures for the concrete structure competition – buildings and structures that have been or will be transferred to the customer during 2023; buildings that have not previously been submitted to this competition, designs and technological solutions can also be submitted.
The winner will be an object or technological solution in which a significant contribution was made by the work of entrepreneurs registered in Estonia and concrete materials supplied from Estonia are used. When choosing the winning entry, professionalism, the degree of design and construction requirements, quality and level of innovation will also be taken into account. The main prize will be awarded to the author of the winning idea. The customer of the project, the designer, the builder, the formwork supplier, the concrete product manufacturer and the concrete supplier will also be noted.
The jury included representatives of the Estonian Association of Architects, the Estonian Concrete Association, the Estonian Association of Civil Engineers, the Estonian Association of Construction Entrepreneurs, the Estonian Association of Construction Consultants, the Estonian Association of Building Materials Manufacturers, Heidelberg Materials Kunda and representatives of the press. The jury is convened by the organizer of the competition.
The deadline for submitting works for the competition expires on December 8, 2023.
The winner will be announced at the national Concrete Day in March 2024.
The concrete building competition is the oldest competition in the construction field in Estonia and has been held continuously since 2000, this year for the 24th time.
