Indian composer Bappi Lahiri dies at 69

Bappi Lahiri (real name Alokesh Lahiri), an Indian composer and singer who was considered a classic of the “disco era” in Bollywood, died at the age of 69 on Wednesday night in a Mumbai clinic. This is reported by The Indian Express with reference to the statement of the director of the clinic, Dr. Deepak Namjoshi.

“In January, Bappi Lahiri was taken to the hospital with a chest infection and obstructive sleep apnea. He was hospitalized here for 29 days, including 18 days he was in intensive care,” the doctor said.

According to him, on February 14, Lahiri was discharged from the clinic, but a few days later his health deteriorated, and he was urgently hospitalized. “He was in a very critical condition, we tried to resuscitate him, but he ended up passing away around 11:40 p.m.-11:45 p.m. Tuesday night,” Namjoshi added.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences to Lahiri’s family and fans. “Bappi Lahiri’s music was all-encompassing, beautifully expressing a variety of emotions. People of different generations warmly treated his works. Everyone will miss his living nature, ”- wrote politician on Twitter.
