BerlinIn Germany there is a debate about the compulsory vaccination against the coronavirus, but it has long been there. Everyone over the age of 16 and in good health is morally obliged to be vaccinated against the coronavirus in order to protect themselves and others from greater harm. That may sound harsh to many who are still hesitant. But the alternatives are even tougher: A fourth wave of the coronavirus is just around the corner.

The mere possibility that schools will go back to distance or alternating classes in the fall and daycare centers might close again is a disaster. Don’t children and adolescents deserve that adults show solidarity with their situation and therefore decide to vaccinate? Should children risk infection or return to social isolation because adults in this country want to wait and see and hope that the pandemic will come to an end even without their minimal amount?
