In the variant of the Sputnik V coronavirus vaccine for adolescents, the concentration of the drug will be reduced by 5 times, and for children – by 10. This was stated by the director of the Gamaleya Center Alexander Gintsburg on the air of the Russia-1 TV channel.
“We have selected a dose of the classic” Sputnik V “that will be effective and safe for the child population. This dose is the original “Sputnik V”, actually diluted with saline, respectively, five times. For the younger group, Sputnik V has been divorced 10 times already, ”said Mr Gunzburg (quoted by TASS).
On October 28, Moscow summed up the results of the first stage of research on the Sputnik V vaccine for children. According to the results of the tests, the specialists came to the conclusion that the drug forms good cellular immunity.
Prior to this, Kommersant wrote that in the near future the Ministry of Health will allow to vaccinate adolescents 12-17 years old against COVID-19 with the Sputnik V vaccine. As with the use of the vaccine for adult Russians, the decision to use it on a massive scale may be made despite ongoing clinical trials. Experts explain the need for childhood vaccination by an increase in the incidence among this age group. According to the Ministry of Health, children from 6 to 17 years old make up 12-13% of all COVID-19 patients in Russia.
