Time.news – The La Fenice theater in Venice has canceled the concert scheduled for 4 and 5 April by the pianist Valentina Lisitsa, Ukrainian but with pro-Putin positions. The decision was made after a wave of protests on social media against the performance of the artist who was supposed to perform pieces by Rachmaninov for the event organized by the Musikamera association. Lisitsa, by the way, performed in May in occupied Mariupol in a highly politicized concert.

She replied with an icy letter in which she regretted having to “succumb to the anonymous and aggressive crowd” of those who didn’t want her and ruled out returning in the future“I thought I was invited as one of the world’s most recognized interpreters of Rachmaninov,” she wrote, “it is a great disappointment. This is very very sad. And, of course, in this case the concert can never take place again.”
