The International Mugham Center in Baku hosted the concert program “Ah, these songs of the soul” (“Ah, bu könül nəğmələri”), organized by the Baku representative office of the Yunus Emre Institute and the Music Education Foundation of Turkey, Day.Az reports.

At the opening of the evening, the founder of the Turkish Music Education Foundation Fikret Erkaya noted that he was glad to host the concert program in fraternal Azerbaijan.

“We came to the ancient city of Baku with great love, where we feel like we are in our native land, and are happy to present Turkish compositions that come from our soul and heart,” said Fikret Erkaya.

Head of the Baku representative office of the Yunus Emre Institute Selchuk Karakylych noted that classical Turkish music is a high art, demonstrating the wide boundaries, intercultural diversity and tolerance of ancient Turkish culture.

“Early music is the sound of the soul that never becomes obsolete in Turkey, covers all areas of its life, personifies the great culture of our country. It is a voice that is a continuation of the traditions and music of our culture with its true sound. Early music shows the cultural diversity of Turkey, its rich culture,” said Selcuk Karakilich.

The Turkish political expert noted that Turkish musical culture is a treasury of values, different and special, penetrating the souls of millions of people.

“The development of cultural ties between brotherly Turkey and Azerbaijan is of great importance for the unity and strength of the Turkic world. Today we once again express this deep-rooted friendship, brotherhood and solidarity in a universal musical language,” Nur Tugba Aktay said.

In the concert program, the famous Turkish soloist Burcu Göktürk, accompanied by an ensemble, performed works by famous representatives of Turkish classical music – Salahaddin Pinar, Sadettin Kaynak, Munir Nureddin Selcuk and Avni Anil. In addition, famous Azerbaijani songs were performed at the concert. The host of the evening was Kyamilya Babaeva.

Among the guests were famous cultural figures and members of the public, who greeted the concert program with applause.
