The Minister of Culture made the trip this Tuesday to the Croisette. She gave her first interview to BFMTV.

Appointed Minister of Culture last Friday, Rima Abdul Malak made the trip this Tuesday to the Cannes Film Festival, which celebrates its 75th anniversary this year.

After visiting last Saturday at the team of the House of Culture of Seine-Saint-Denis and having visited the Château de Fontainebleau on the occasion of the reopening to the public of the horseshoe staircase, Rima Abdul Malak experienced her baptism of fire on the Croisette.

“Bringing a new generation into theaters”

Minister for less than a week, Rima Abdul Malak is still on cloud nine.

“I didn’t think it would be this exciting, but so far it’s exciting. I hope it lasts,” she says.

The minister is taking advantage of her visit to Cannes to discuss the future of cinema and the desertion of cinemas. “We have just spent two hours having lunch with all the representatives of the cinema industry, all the links in the chain”.

“We sketched out a few leads,” she adds.

“I cannot reveal everything there, because we have to work on it. We will be on the bridge very quickly to face this question in the short term and especially in the longer term, because the challenge is to make come a new generation in cinemas in the future”, she promises.
