Guterres says he is “appalled by the growing number of civilian casualties” and “deeply troubled by the destruction of the skyscraper that housed several international media” in Gaza City.

“We expect difficult days, but we will be united and strong,” said Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. “We must remember and tell ourselves this: we are right and we cannot come to terms with this terror, with this ferocity, with this violence,” he added in a statement reported by the Times of Israel. The Israeli prime minister urges the population to remain close to the air raid shelters and confirms the continuation of operations: “We will go on as long as necessary”.
