Ana Rosa Quintana began her program, like every morning, with an editorial. But this Monday’s was especially morbid, since the general elections were held yesterday and the polls granted Pedro Sánchez the possibility of continuing to govern with the support of the Catalan and Basque nationalists. Days before, Ana Rosa Quintana herself acknowledged that she had only requested a post-electoral interview, with the leader of the PP, Núñez Feijóo, “the one who is going to win the elections,” she predicted.

The PP won the elections, yes, but it was a short victory. It does not add up to VOX or other close parties in the ideological field. So many viewers were waiting for Ana Rosa’s reaction. And the communicator did not disappoint. Without hesitation, she began by congratulating Feijóo for winning the elections and immediately afterwards she “congratulated” Sánchez as “loser of the general elections.”

Ana Rosa did not like the party that the PSOE had set up at its headquarters in Ferraz. “Never in democratic history, had a loser in the elections come out on the balcony of his party headquarters to celebrate a defeat as Pedro Sánchez did yesterday.” And, in her analysis, she wondered what the cost of an investiture of the socialist would be: «The PP has won the elections with 136 seats and a rise of 47 deputies, but there is an unprecedented paradox. For the first time in a democracy, the losing party, with 122 seats, could and seems to be able to govern, if it gets the necessary support. But the question is: what will the price be?

If the abstention of Junts -Puigdemont’s party- is added to the block of the last investiture, Sánchez would be president. A situation that seems to worry Ana Rosa. «Rufian already warned that the price of ERC and EH Bildu was going to be more expensive. Are we talking about a referendum, self-determination, amnesty, financing? (…) The PNV will also raise the price. (…) Puigdemont is the housekeeper, he can open Spain from Waterloo », she declared.

Finally, the communicator urged the PP and PSOE to form a great coalition: «They have added no less than 258 seats. Millions of Spaniards have decided between these two parties… Is it so difficult to reach an agreement between them on the basic questions of the governability of the Spanish state? (…) We are a parliamentary democracy. Let’s agree in parliament without vetoes between these two great parties, without blocks and without blockades and, above all, without bills and without fractures.

Before concluding his editorial, he remembered the leader of Sumar. «Yolanda Díaz, who was fourth yesterday, said that they had won and that democracy had won. We are facing a new term: the victorious defeat », she concluded.
