Salé – The congratulatory ​message from HM King Mohammed VI is “a motivation ‍to ‌make more efforts and honor my country during major international events,” said, Saturday in Salé, ‍the⁤ double Olympic and ‍world champion in the 3,000 m ⁤steeplechase, Soufiane El Bakkali.

“This second Olympic ⁣victory ⁢at the Paris Olympics is‍ a source ⁢of pride for me and the fruit of intense efforts and training,” ⁢El Bakkali‌ said in a‌ statement to the press ⁣upon his arrival at Rabat-Salé⁣ airport, expressing⁢ his joy at having offered ​a second ​consecutive Olympic medal to Morocco in the 3,000m steeplechase.

He⁣ explained that “the first Olympic medal won in Tokyo was an additional pressure to give the⁢ best of myself and‌ surpass myself in Paris”, noting that the ⁣second Olympic victory in the French capital ​was the ⁢result of⁣ intense efforts despite the ‍injury ⁢he contracted in ⁣mid-season ⁤and which disrupted his preparations for this international event.
