The new car brand Verne, in cooperation with the company VGP, begins the construction of a factory for the large-scale production of autonomous electric vehicles. The plant will be located in Zagreb on an area of 28,500 square meters. All Verne cars will be produced in Croatia and exported worldwide. The production plant for Verne will be built by the Belgian company VGP, for which this is the first investment in the country.
At first, several hundred robot cars will be produced, and then the factory will be able to produce up to 10,000 cars per year. The volume of production will increase over time, following the dynamics of the project. The factory will be completed and equipped in 2025, starting operations in early 2026.
Verne will be driven by an app similar to Uber’s. The service will be similar: the customer connects with the robot taxi to get to the point of departure. Technically, the Verne will be a 100% electric car.
